Ok, so last night was SUCH a fun night! My best friend Belinda and I went with some other friends to see Russell Brand Live and in homage to Katy and her luscious blue locks, I wore my own blue hair out to do what Russell himself does best… GET ATTENTION! And my lordy, did it work!!

At the beginning of the show Russell beckoned for me to join him at the front of the stage and told me that he was enthralled by my eyes, though couldn’t work out whether I was a man or a woman; stating that I was some kind of ‘third-gender’ that he could make a buffet out of. He gave me a kiss and then after the show when he was signing autographs, I got called up on stage to have photos with him, which was a treat! I told him that I would be at the red carpet premiere of Get Him To The Greek the tomorrow night and he giggled.

Finally, Belinda dragged us around the side of the Entertainment Centre to catch Russell as he left the venue, and with so many people asking him to sign their programmes and shirts, I HAD to do something to stand out. So I asked him to sign my breast, which he was only happy to do. So I pulled out my foam breasticle and Russell burst into laughter before adding considerable value to my man-mammary with his autograph. I also managed to slip him a business card which he put in his pocket before winking at me and saying “I’ll see you tomorrow night, Summer”.

So, not only did I have a fabulous night, to top it all off, I was woken early this morning by Belinda bouncing around the Gay Frat House alerting me that we were all over the celeb news sites:

And of course, there’s plenty more on my Facebook

Stay tuned for more updates on the after party tonight!

Well it’s been a HUGE couple of weeks, and I’ve spent more time on stage out of Sydney than in! A couple of weekends ago, my good friend Millie Poppins and I made the trek to NSW wine country to perform at an MS fundraiser in the Hunter Valley. Held at the Lindemans estate, the event boasted a Priscilla theme and we performed to over 250 generous people, willing to part with their cash for a silent auction and an amazing night of mentertainment matched with fabulous food and wine. It was lovely to see some friends there, and we made sure to stop at plenty of wineries and providores along the way there and back, hauling a sequined lizard costume and a dozen bottles of the best wine.

After just a few days recovery, I jumped into my little yellow bumblebee of a car and went north again to perform at Krave nightclub on the Central Coast. In addition to seeing so many regular patrons, and belting out 3 spot numbers, I had the honour of presenting awards to the committee members as part of the Mardi Gras wrap-up festivities. As I always say, the punters at Krave are such an appreciative crowd, and it’s always a pleasure to take to their stage.

Tonight I’ll be hosting the Midnight Shift along with the rest of the Glamazons and we’ll be raising a glass in memorial of our good friend David Hiscock who passed away a year ago today. I still miss him every time I walk into that DJ booth, but I ALWAYS get a smile on my face when I see Miss 3D’s astonishing cake depicting David standing there proudly alongside Frankie Shin.

In lighter news, we’re opening our new Wednesday show in roughly 3 weeks, so make sure you come down to the Shift to see the final weeks of Trixxx of the Trade!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting the ANZ Main Stage at Fair Day 2010 which incorporated the launch of the Mardi Gras Festival. It was a truly magnificent day with splendid weather and SO much going on. There were stalls all over the place showcasing the talents of some of our best producers and service providers, the hilarity of Doggywood, a sneak preview of some of Mardi Gras’ performers and more rainbows than I’ve ever seen before.

This week will be a monumental one: Tonight I’ll be in boy form at the Midnight Shift supporting Sydney’s up and coming talent in So You Think You Can Drag 3, tomorrow I’m hosting the Glamazons with Millie Poppins and Ripley Waters and on Thursday and Friday I’ll be hosting Mardi Bar at Nevermind with my FAVOURITE porn star in the entire world, Brent Corrigan! Then of course there’s the Mardi Gras Parade this coming Saturday and I’ll be on the Krave float, joined by Charisma Belle!

With 4 (not so) straight nights of drag coming up this week, you’ll be bound to see me out and about somewhere. Make sure you come say hi and we’ll have a photo!

Whatever you do, be safe and look out for your friends. Party hard kids, it’s Gay Christmas!

Well the party season is most definitely beginning! With Fair Day, and it’s inclusion of the Mardi Gras launch, Gay Christmas is just around the corner. I had the pleasure of hosting the main stage in the morning of Fair Day in 2009, and am ecstatic to have been asked come back and extend my duties into the afternoon. It’s an absolute honour and I’m looking forward to seeing the many acts take to the stage to show Sydney just how diverse our community really is.

There will be DJ’s, bands, singers, dancers, leather exhibitions, plenty of stalls, a bigger rides section than ever before and of course the ever popular Doggywood events! Every year that I have attended or worked at Fair Day, I have been filled with a sense of immense pride for Gay Sydney. All in all, we are smart, sexy, funny, innovative, loving and generous people, and Fair Day is the best day of the year to share our culture with each other and the rest of the world. Everyone is welcome to Fair Day, regardless of anything including age. Bring your friends, parents, kids, dogs and perhaps even your love-slaves to enjoy a day in Victoria Park Broadway as we kick off the Mardi Gras season with a bang!

I’ll be hosting the main stage from 10am till 2pm at Fair Day this Sunday 21st February, so keep an eye out for the blonde in the pink; and remember to show your generosity by donating to our charities at every opportunity!

This weekend saw the culmination of some very special events. Friday night was Twinktown Hello Sailor at Slide and Saturday was the birthday of my very good friend Benita Devito!

Slide was transformed into a ship full of castaways as gorgeous boys and super cute girls danced the night away thanks to our fabulous DJ James Tobin. We had special performers including 2009 DIVA Rising Star Decoda Secret as our Lovefool, Millie Poppins channelling Ursula doing Poor Unfortunate Souls and Kiki Fetch, Laidee Babooshka and Elle O’Ell adding some spice to the night. Our spunky boys Ripley Waters and Leigh Sleightholme provided some eye candy for the fabulous Love Boat production show, plus we had awesome prizes to give away including Master/Slave underwear and gift vouchers, Karim Konrad photography vouchers, Seal CDs and of course, tanning vouchers form our Golden Sponsor Soleil Tanning! It was HUGE!

Then I dragged myself together again for Saturday night to visit Benita for her birthday celebrations at Nevermind and Stonewall. The cream (albeit slightly clotted) of Sydney’s social drag scene were out en masse to party hard! The champagne was flowing freely and the dancefloor was pounding as we helped Benita celebrate her birthday in style. She’s been a good, and somewhat mischievous, friend of mine for years and I’m proud to give her a shout out for her big day. Happy Birthday Lady!

The rest of the weekend was spent helping friends move a new washing machine (butch!) and watching movies while eating a homemade stir fry and bundles of popcorn (and my hand made brownies!). What better way to complete a fabulous weekend

This week I’ll be with the Glamazons at the Midnight Shift on Wednesday from 9:30pm, working with Millie for the last time before she goes interstate for two weeks. Just you wait till we announce her replacement!

The Christmas season never ceases to amaze me. It creeps up on you until the second week of December, and then you’re in a whirlwind of wrapping paper, awesome (or unwanted!) presents, drinking, eating too much, drinking more, not drinking enough, drinking MORE, and coming through the other side in a whole different year to when you started. Dazed and confused, you start work again nursing a sore head and a whole bunch of fabulous memories.

This year was a little different for me; my memory missed a significant part of NYE Eve when I was drinking double-vodka-nothings on the beach with some close friends and I got lost after running from a policeman when he asked “Was that you letting off the fireworks?”. The correct thing to so would have been to say “Who Sir? Me Sir? NO Sir!”, the incorrect thing do to was to piss-bolt in the opposite direction, get lost on a different track, fight with a tree branch or 8 and to be found by a search party bleeding from a significant laceration to the head. And then to wake up the next morning with ZERO memory of what happened. Needless to say, I did the incorrect thing and suffered dearly in the form of the most massive hangover known to man or whoa-man. I had to host NYE at the Midnight Shift and after sleeping from 1pm till 9:30pm I slapped on some Betadine, “Ouch!”ed myself through putting on a face, and trundled up to the Shift at 11:30pm, fearing the mere smell of alcohol would render me both useless and covered in rainbow spew. SOMEHOW, by the grace of God and with Belinda by my side, I managed to hand out party poppers and lead the absolutely packed venue into the new decade with a fabulous countdown, a spot number and a great view of the fireworks on the plasmas.

After that, I finished my one and only red bull and rolled down the hill into to carefully wipe-off my make-up, trying to remove it all from open wounds, and dove into bed.

That was my New Years. Not traditionally exciting but a fantastic story nonetheless. I’ll omit the spewing into the gutter, swinging on a lamppost and falling into the man-made pool of pink liquid below, as it detracts slightly. But nonetheless, I look back and will never forget the year behind me.

Coming up this month, the Glamazons return to the Midnight Shift on Wednesdays to present Trixxx of the Trade and some fantabulous spot shows, and the first Twinktown of 2010 will be held at Slide Nightclub on Friday 22nd. The theme will shortly be announced, and we’ll be setting sail before you know it.

Have a magical week!

XXSS

WOW… What a busy week! Working 5 days as a boy and 4 nights as a girl almost saw me develop a case of schizophrenia!

From Glamazoning it on Wednesday, with a Bette Midler tribute spot show, to hosting Tranny Bingo to a great crown at the Kings X Hotel on Thursday, I was half way through the drag-week and I was having a ball. As I rolled on to Friday, I saw Drag! at the Opera house starring my older sister Amelia Airhead and a cast of awesome performers, and then trundled off to Arq to perform at Strictly 90’s with Millie and Carmen. Then by the time Saturday came, I was exhausted, but slapped on a face to perform at a 7 year itch party in North Sydney. With no crabs in sight (not the itching I was expecting!), the couple celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary and I raised over $1,000 for homeless women and children in about an hour. It was a great way to finish off a week.

This week I’ll be at the Midnight Shift on Wednesday with Millie and Ripley and will be working feverishly on (the first of my own!) Twinktown XXXMAS which is scheduled to engulf Slide on Saturday 19th. With a snow machine, camp decorations, SCRUMPTIOUS special cocktails, FAAAABULOUS performers including special guest Charisma Belle, and awesome DJ’s like Kitty Glitter, it’s already set to be a prime night in the December calendar.

Hope to see you out and about!
